FROM THE OPEN SCIENCE PROGRAMME

Two new ORD Call for Projects now open!

The Open Science Programme of swissuniversities welcomes applications from eligible higher education institutions in the following action lines:

--> Action Line C2.2: RDM-Training in Curricula

We welcome project proposals that aim to develop a model curriculum for a specific discipline which integrates research data management (RDM) into the training of PhD students and junior researchers. Preference is given to concepts with high potential for use at other institutions and other disciplines. If applicable, project proposals should involve the different types of higher education institutions and other relevant actors in the field of RDM.

Submission deadline: 7 September 2023Link to the application guidelines

--> Action Line D1.3: Incentives and Rewards

As a step towards incentivizing and rewarding ORD practices, interested higher education institutions may submit a project proposal for promoting interinstitutional exchange regarding ORD practices and dissemination of best practices in recruitment and career advancement processes, all related to fostering ORD practices. This cultural shift calls for communication and awareness-raising activities (e.g., workshops, conferences, and other formats). The approaches developed should also align with Europe-wide developments concerning the reform of research assessment systems.

Submission deadline: 7 September 2023Link to the application guidelines

still open: ORD: Swiss Open Research Data Grants – CHORD

swissuniversities and the ETH Domain jointly organise the Swiss Open Research Data Grants programme. This collaboration enables coherent and broad bottom-up support for ORD practices across disciplines and across higher education institutions in Switzerland. This grant programme thereby facilitates synergies and complementarities in the ORD landscape. Researchers from all disciplines and all types of higher education and research institutions are welcome to submit their project ideas.

--> The second call for Track C “Contribute projects” closes on 19 July 2023

Junior and senior researchers are invited to submit project ideas that improve existing ORD practices/tools and their scientific impact and technical quality by:

  • Advancing existing open communities by contributing a piece of software, data or hardware that improves an established ORD practice;
  • Curating and improving available ORD; and
  • Providing community services, such as the organisation of a workshop or training.

The max. overall budget is CHF 100,000 (including matching funds), the max. project duration is from 1 Jan 2024 until 31 Dec 2024.

The submission deadline is 19 July 2023, and the evaluation decision is scheduled for October 2023. The application guidelines for Track C are available here.
