The Delegation Open Science manages the implementation of the Open Science programme on behalf of the Board of swissuniversities. In this role, the Delegation Open Science defines the strategic direction and provides the framework for the operational organisation of the programme, reviews project reporting, launches calls, draws up evaluation criteria, selects projects on the recommendation of the Reviewers' Pool and decides on project funding within the programme. 

The Open Science Programme Coordination within the General Secretariat of swissuniversities supports the Delegation in its activities and ensures the implementation and development of the programme. The Delegation nominates a reviewers' pool of over 60 experts who assess project proposals.
