Open Access Call for Communication & Awareness Raising Projects
The Open Science Programme of swissuniversities welcomes applications from eligible higher education institutions focusing on Awareness Raising & Communication on a rolling basis.
With this call, you can fund Open Access communication and awareness raising activities with a national and/or a regional scope.
More information regarding the Open Access Implementation Plan, the relevant action lines and the requirements are available in the document "Open Action Lines for the 2023 Open Access Call for Projects".

22 Sept: PLATO Webinar on ‘Best Practices in Diamond Open Access Publishing’
The PLATO project offers two webinars for editors of Diamond Open Access journals to learn more about current standards and best practices as well as sustainability and funding. Both webinars will be held in English.

27 September: launch of the SWISS EOSC coffee break series: data challenges in the life sciences
The SWISS EOSC COFFEE is a series of online events organized by “Switzerland and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) for researchers”. In the first “online coffee break” Jessica Lindvall (Associate Professor, Stockholm University) will talk about the data challenges in the life sciences and the relationship between EOSC and the European Life Sciences Infrastructure for Biological Information (ELIXIR). Jessica is the deputy Head of Node of ELIXIR Sweden and chairs the EOSC Task Force “Upskilling Countries to Engage in EOSC”. The Swiss EOSC expert team will be represented by Lucy Poveda, Scientific Relations Manager at SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics and Node coordinator of ELIXIR Switzerland. Lucy will provide an overview of the SIB activities and moderates the discussion with the participants.
Who should participate? Everyone who is interested in Open Science and Open Data, and how Switzerland is involved to unlock the full potential of research data to accelerate discoveries and innovation.

5 October: Outcome of the project ‘Regulatory Framework’
The results of the project Regulatory Framework will be presented by the project team on October 5.
Regulatory Framework is an Open Access project financed by swissuniversities. It focuses on secondary publication right and Open Access as a regulatory challenge in Switzerland.

11 October: Lecture of the Swiss Year of Scientometrics (SYoS)
We invite you to the second lecture of SYoS held by Emanuel Kulczycki, Professor of Scholarly Communication at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. 23-29 October 2023: International Open Access Week
In a joint effort, several Swiss universities and libraries organise the International Open Access Week. This year, the event has the guiding theme “Community over Commercialisation". The progamme comprises a mix of virtual, hybrid and in-person events offered in English, German or French.

Welcome to the University of Neuchâtel as a new member of SWISSUbase
SWISSUbase would like to welcome the University of Neuchâtel as a new member of the SWISSUbase consortium. The consortium is a partnership between the University of Lausanne, the University of Zürich and FORS (the Swiss centre of expertise in the social sciences).
The mission of SWISSUbase is to serve the Swiss scientific community to preserve and share research data for future reuse. As a SWISSUbase member, the University of Neuchâtel will provide services for their University researchers across all faculties, including guidance to prepare and deposit data and services to review and curate data submissions.
All members of the SWISSUbase consortium provide direct services to researchers of their specific community or institution to promote the sharing of open research data.

PALOMERA Survey on Open Access Book Policies
PALOMERA is an EU-funded project that addresses the role, which academic books continue to play in scholarly production, particularly in the social sciences and humanities

This survey is a contribution to an extensive collection of data on the needs, obstacles and challenges of policy-making for open access books. Based on the evidence given by the survey results, PALOMERA will provide actionable recommendations for the development of open access book policies on the European, national and institutional level. By taking part in this survey, you are making a contribution to the research needed to speed up the transformation of the book market to open access.
