ORD: Swiss Open Research Data Grants

swissuniversities and the ETH Domain jointly organise the Swiss Open Research Data Grants programme. This collaboration enables coherent and broad bottom-up support for ORD practices across disciplines and higher education institutions in Switzerland, thereby facilitating synergies and complementarities.

Newly funded projects in Track A and Track B

These days, several Swiss higher education institutions are embarking on the implementation of their ORD projects. 14 Track A Explore projects and 16 Track B Establish projects were approved for funding by the Delegation Open Science. "With these initiatives, researchers and research communities in Switzerland are taking an important step towards implementing the ORD Strategy. This allows us to ensure the high quality of research results and to contribute to the visibility and impact of research," says Jean-Marc Piveteau, President of the Delegation Open Science.

See also our communication on the newly founded projects here.

Track A “Explore projects” – Third call

A third call for proposals for Track A “Explore projects” has been issued.
The call is open from 16 March 2023 until 2 June 2023.

Track A encompasses early-phase exploration as well as the testing and prototyping of a potential ORD practice. It allows for engagement with a community without necessarily creating a final product. The objective is to help researchers explore if and how ORD practices can be developed.

The application guidelines for Track A  are available here. Proposals may be submitted until 2 June 2023. Further information can be found on the Swiss Open Research Data Grants website.

ORD: Newly funded projects in action line B5.2 Data Stewardship

Action line B5.2 of the ORD Action Plan aims to promote data stewardship and ORD specialists at all higher education and research institutions. A call was issued in summer of 2022 where higher education institutions were invited to describe their ideas and intentions for building up data stewardship at their institution in the form of an action plan. 25 projects at 31 higher education institutions were approved by the Delegation Open Science and will advance the professionalisation of data stewards and services in the coming months. Data stewards manage and improve access to research data within their institution and act as a link and advisor between researchers and IT, libraries, and data infrastructure.

A list of approved projects can be found here. All action plans are also published on our website.
