With a few exceptions, the degree programs at Swiss universities start in the fall semester (in September each year).

Fall semester: Week 38 to 51  
Spring semester: Week 8 to 22

Fall semester: Week 38 to 3/4*
Spring semester: Week 8 to 23/24*

*End-of-semester dates may vary by the universities of applied sciences and within their departments.

Fall semester: Week 37/38 to 50/51
Spring semester: Week 8/9 to 22/23

In the case of universities of teacher education, study periods vary in partly due to the internships in elementary schools that are integrated into the training.
