The Swiss higher education institutions offer their young talent, researchers and lecturers various services for planning and further developing their academic careers. In future, these will be expanded further, so that people belonging to higher education institutions are also informed of options outside of the higher education institutions. swissuniversities has defined this as a strategic measure.

Tools for advice and career planning (e.g. the Talent Development Suite) are also provided by the EURAXESS network.

swissuniversities also supports this work by campaigning for the clarification and visibility of the various paths. In connection with this, it has described careers at universities of applied sciences and universities of teacher education in two reports. It has also shed light on career structures at universities and identified problems and potential solutions at post-doc level. These thoughts are reflected in the Strategic Planning of swissuniversities.
