FROM THE PROGRAMME
swissuniversities adopts the Open Research Data Strategy
By adopting the Open Research Data (ORD) Strategy, swissuniversities has taken a further step towards Open Science and follows on the existing Open Access strategy. The ORD Strategy was developed jointly by swissuniversities, the ETH Domain, the SNSF and the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences and focuses on the open access to research data.
The ORD Strategy is developed on the basis of an agreement with the SERI and in coordination with the ERI partners. It is supported by the ETH Board, the SNSF, ETH Zurich, EPF Lausanne and the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences. The measures and the implementation steps of the Strategy will be specified into an action plan by the end of the year.

FROM THE PROJECTS
SELVEDAS: Innovative approach to promote efficient data workflow between institutions
The Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) operates large-scale research facilities that produce multiple petabytes of data every year. In a collaboration funded by a swissuniversities grant, the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) and PSI co-investigated how best to enable quick and efficient data workflows between the institutions. The successful collaboration, called SELVEDAS (Services for Large Volume Experiment-Data Analysis utilising Supercomputing and Cloud technologies), is paving the way for new services to be offered on the “Alps" supercomputer infrastructure at CSCS.
