FROM THE PROJECTS
Research Data Management Services now available from SWITCHhub and EOSC Market Place
The openBIS-based research data management service openRDM.swiss is now listed in the SWITCHhub market place of academic services. With openRDM.swiss, ETH Zurich Scientific IT Services (SIS) offer active research data management as a service to all academic research groups in Switzerland. Since 2021, ETH SIS also offer a similar service on the European level: openRDM.eu. With this service, researchers can obtain support in setting up and configuring a cloud-based or locally-hosted openBIS server. The openRDM.eu service is now also available through the EOSC Market Place.
Open Science Community Event by Summer School
As a conclusion to our Summer School project supported by swissuniversities, the Data Services & Open Access Team as well as UZH Graduate Campus are organizing an event for the Swiss Open Science community in order to foster a national exchange of experience.
The event will be held on June 18, 2021, 09:00-11:00 via Zoom.
We will talk about our lessons learned in the course of the project, offer a glimpse into the work of the Open Science Office at the University of Zurich, and leave room for discussions and for you to share your own insights from the point of view of your institution. Furthermore, we will have representatives from the SNSF and the EU Grants Access Office sharing their perspectives and requirements regarding Open Science.
The event is open to everyone working in Open Science or having an interest in the topic. Join us in this exchange of experience and register by mail via contact@cluttergrc.uzh.ch.

SDSC opens a new branch at PSI
A new branch of the Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) will be established at the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI. To this end, the ETH Board has approved an increase of CHF 5 million in the budget for the Data Science strategic area. The main objective of this expansion is to help improve the evaluation and processing of the increasing amounts of data from large and complex research infrastructures, sensor networks and databases at PSI and the other three federal research institutes, Empa, WSL and Eawag. PSI estimates that its own research infrastructures will grow from 3.6 to more than 50 petabytes of data produced annually by 2025.

A systematic analysis of transformative agreements

This work, based on a review of 197 agreements, describes in detail their properties, analyses their content as a collection looking for commonalities and variations, and points out some uncertainties.
