Newsletter by the Programme Open Science, January 2021

Dear colleagues,

This is the January issue of our newsletter, which informs you monthly about our programme and its scope.

FROM THE PROGRAMME

Open Access Call: preliminary results of the first deadline on 15 January 2021

The Open Access Call for Projects launched on 19 October 2020 invited higher education institutions to submit proposals on the action lines of the Open Access Implementation Plan listed below:

  •     Setting up of shared services
  •     Participation to international initiatives
  •     Research Assessment

By the deadline of 15 January 2021, 11 project proposals were submitted. The Open Science Delegation will decide on 26 May 2021 which projects will be funded after the assessment of the reviewers from the Reviewers Pool. The list of project proposals is available on the programme website.

Videos from the conference "Open Access in Action" now available online

Our online conference in October 2020, organised in collaboration with the ZHAW, highlighted various topics related to Open Access implementation and thus provided an opportunity for the ever-growing Open Access and Open Science community in Switzerland to discuss them.

All presentations from this event were published on our website after the event. However, due to technical difficulties during the conference, the video recordings had inadequate sound quality, which we have now been able to improve with the help of Klewel, the webcasting company. You can now find the complete material on our website under this link.

OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS

The new Open Research Europe (ORE) platform is now up and running

Open Research Europe (ORE) is an Open Access publishing platform that offers an additional voluntary OA option for H2020 or Horizon Europe grantees. Publication is free of charge and remains possible even after funding. The platform operates on the basis of Open Peer Review and quality assurance by a scientific advisory board. Learn more about the platform in this presentation by Victoria Tsoukala from the European Commission (DG RTD) and Michael Markie from F1000 Research, and at this link.

Switzerland joins Dariah

In November 2020, Switzerland joined the European Network of Digital Research Infrastructures for the Humanities, Dariah, as an observer member. Switzerland is represented in Dariah by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and is coordinated by the Data and Service Center for the Humanities (DaSCH) in Basel. Switzerland's participation is an important milestone for the Dariah-CH consortium, which was founded in 2018 and includes seven universities in addition to the ASSH. Learn more

OECD adopts revised recommendation on access to publicly funded research data

With a total of 40 members, this is a landmark reference work for the global OS community. The full text of the Recommendation can be found on the OECD Legal Instruments Compendium (English, French). You can also find an overview of the basic work on this at this link and a blog aimed at a non-expert audience here.
